Freedom at 21

Here is the third video off of the new Jack White album. Its for "Freedom at 21" and it was directed by Hype Williams. So as you can imagine its pretty badass. And that doesn't even include the girl that rides around on his hood for a majority of the video. That is just plain crazy.

Have I mentioned how much I love this man? Oh I have....

Truth.

Rare Early Metallica Photos

"Murder in the Front Row" is the name of the new coffee table book put out about Metallica's early days and from the looks of these sample pictures its sure to be a great pick up for all the bands fans.

Best Review Ever?

The following could be the greatest review of Chris Browns new album:

Bruce Tears Apart London

Now this is how you do it! Last night Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band threw down for an epic concert in London't Hyde Park. From what I hear it featured a ton of guests including John Fogerty, Tom Morello and Paul McCartney. McCartney joined Bruce on stage for the final two encores of "I Saw Her Standing There" and "Twist and Shout". I also hear that they would have kept playing longer if they literally weren't kicked off the stage for being past curfew.

Way to go Bruce.

Mumford & Sons Announce Album Details

Finally we get details about the new album!! After teasing songs for weeks Mumford & Sons have announced the details around their new album called "Babel". It will be released on September 25th and this is the track listing.

Babel track list:
"Babel"
"Whispers in the Dark"
"I Will Wait"
"Holland Road"
"Ghosts That We Knew"
"Lover of the Light
"Lovers' Eyes"
"Reminder"
"Hopeless Wanderer"
"Broken Crown"
"Below My Feet"
"Not With Haste"
I'm pretty excited about this album. How it will top their freshman effort is still something that I doubt can actually happen.... but here is to hoping! They are also kicking off their 15 stop US tour next week. Anyone got any extra Portsmouth tickets?

Monday is Here!

As much as I tried to avoid it, Monday is here and we are in for yet another work week. All will be okay though because with the promise of a Monday comes the promise of a Friday. So lets get this week done!

Hope that everyone had a good weekend. We had some very weird weather patterns here in Richmond, Va. I took the above photo with my phone last night around 7pm. Looks like a scene right out of Independence Day. Pretty crazy.

I am trying to finally get back on this blog this week after what has been an insane last two weeks. I finally feel like I will have the time and energy needed to get it all done.

So lets get this show on the road.

Andrew Bird in Richmond Tonight!

Dang how did I miss this! My man Andrew Bird will be playing 'Groovin in the Gardens' tonight in Richmond. Bummed I didn't know about this sooner, I've been following this guy for a while.

Congrats Slash!

Here is a picture of Slash yesterday getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Congrats man. And you are correct, that hat never gets old. Ever.

Dear Lady Gaga

This is what you were seen wearing recently while walking through an airport.

Really? I mean.... really!!!?!!

Truth.

Dancing Army Men

Yes you read that title correct. This next video is a scene right out of my childhood. Its the little army men that everyone had as a kid made to look like they are dancing to Pink Martini's "Ohayoo Ohio".

Amazing. And yes I'm making up for lost time on this blog with silly videos. How did you guess?

Muse - Survival

Muse, a band that I have written about numerous times before on this blog has been given the task of the summer. To create an anthem for the Summer Olympics. That is right, do you know how much air play this one song will get over the next few months? I for one am just glad that they came up with a good one!

Here it is, mixed with some great Olympic footage.

Sorry!

I apologize for my brief absence. Work has been crazy busy as of late and I have not had enough time to get on here and write. I'm sorry!

Hope your week is off to a great start! The heat has finally broke here in Richmond making life as a whole more manageable.

Stay tuned for more from me soon...

Foo Fighters - These Days

Speaking of artists I loved from the 90s that still got it, the Foo Fighters are absolutely killing it these days. I didn't like this song at first but it has slowly grown on me to the point that when it came across my radio today I put all my windows down and blasted it for the world to hear. Its just a great rock and roll tune. And now to speak of the video. Its an amazing tribute to their live concerts and their fans. For people like me who go to a lot of concerts its nice to see this type of video done on this scale. Well done!

"One of these days the ground will drop out from beneath your feet
One of these days your heart will stop and play its final beat
One of these days the clocks will stop and time won't mean a thing
One of these days their bombs will drop and silence everything

But its alright
Yeah it's alright
I said it's alright"

Alanis Morissette's Still Got It!

Take a look at the above video to check out one of my favorite performers from the 90s showing the world that not only does she still look great, but she has the chops to pull off some great things. Alanis Morissette hit the Guitar Sessions stage over the weekend and pulled out some of her greatest hits. Above is the song "Ironic". A song that I adored as a teenager and still do to this day.

So good to see that she has still got it!

Christina Perri Distance Video

A few weeks ago I brought you a 'behind the scenes' peek of a song that I have absolutely fallen in love with. "Distance" by Christina Perri is an amazingly well written song about heartbreak and losing someone you love just because the timing is just not working out. Its beautifully heartbreaking, and also features Jason Mraz another one of my favorites.

I can listen to this all day long and now that I have a fantastic video to go with it. The song is officially complete. I have to find when this girl is coming to Richmond, she is easily at the top of my must see list.

"...and I will make sure to keep my distance
Say I love you, and you're not listening.
How long can we keep this slow?"

Florence + The Machine New Video

Here is a new video for the song "Breaking Down" from Florence + The Machine. I love this song and am absolutely loving the homemade feel of this video. This girl is on FIRE lately.

Way to go!

RIP Andy Griffith

The great Andy Griffith passed away today at the age of 86.

The TV legend and star of 'The Andy Griffith Show' and 'Matlock' died at his home in North Carolina.

So sad...

This theme song will always go down as one of my favorites.

Upside to Responsibility

I know in the last post I complained that responsibility ruined my chances of me getting to Jones Beach for the concerts these next two nights.... but the upside to that responsibility is the new toy I bought myself last night.

Yay.

Jones Beach Tonight

If I could close my eyes. Click my heels three times. And go wherever I would like right now, it would be an easy choice.

I would get myself to Jones Beach for tonight and tomorrow nights Phish concerts.

Damn being a responsible adult!

Baby Prince

I'm sorry for being all over the place again today. I just got back from playing bingo with a bunch of 80+ year olds (have I mentioned how much I love my job). Well it was a great way to spend the morning. Now I'm back in the office grinding out a few more hours here.

This is something that is single handedly getting me through the day.

Baby Prince!

Almost Here

New Miles Davis Stamp

Here is a picture from the unveiling of the new Miles Davis stamp.

The unveiling happened at this years Hollywood Bowl before a concert put on by legends Herbie Hancock and Vince Wilburn Jr.

Henry Rollins was also on hand for the unveiling. Its widely known that he is a huge Miles fan and is friends with the family.

Best. T-Shirt. Ever.

Could this next item be the best t-shirt in the history of the world?

Why yes... yes I think it is.

Enjoy.

If that doesn't bring a smile to your face today I'm not sure anything will....

Adele Expecting

In real quick news I wasn't expecting. I learned over the weekend that one of my favorites Adele is expecting a child with her boyfriend.

I wonder what kind of writing this experience will inspire.

Congratulations!

Van Morrison In NJ

One thing I do know for sure is that if I was in New Jersey this weekend you would have been able to find me at the Van Morrison concert at the Jersey Folklore Festival. Look a that setlist!

Amazing.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. It was too damn hot here in Richmond. I survived... barely.
