In Other News

Since I am still playing catch up today I will just give you a list of the big stories from the last few days...

-Country Singer Mindy McCready died yesterday from an apparent suicide. I do not follow country music so I don't know much about her or her career but everything I have read about it today just seems tragic and sad. My heart breaks for her two boys. RIP.

- Travis Barker from Blink 182 has pulled out of the bands Australia dates due to him still being afraid to fly. I don't know if you remember a few years back when he was in that horrific plane crash that killed two of his best friends. I can not blame him for not wanting to fly across the world again...

-Argo is literally sweeping up this award season taking down some more last night at the Writers Guild Awards.

-My girl Ellie Goulding performed during the Saturday night portion of the NBA All Star Game but it was Alecia Keys who killed it with her halftime performance during last nights game.

-Here is a picture from the studio where Black Sabbath is reuniting.

-And the final note. Its cold as anything here in Virginia today.

Alabama Shakes on SNL

So happy to see one of my favorites the Alabama Shakes perform on Saturday Night Live over the weekend. Hopefully this gives them some more exposure and people get up off their butts and buy their album! I promise you it is worth it.

Take a look at one of their performances here.

I'm Here. I Promise.

Hey Everyone,

Sorry for the late start this morning. Work is literally kicking my ass all over my tiny office and it has not been too fun of a morning. Luckily I only have a few hours left here for the day and then I will be out and not have to think about this place for another 12 hours. I think I can make it... I think.

Anyways sorry for the delay. I'll try and get to it quickly.

I don't have much to say that doesn't have to do with Beyonce today. Last night I spent pretty much my entire evening watching her. I watched her documentary on HBO and then followed it up with her interview with Oprah. I went into it being a small Beyonce fan and left the evening being a huge fan and wanting to become best friends with her. Seriously, no jokes here. I want to be friends with her.

I learned so much from her in her documentary (which she produced and directed herself). It was an intimate portrait into the life of the super star filmed mostly by her on her own computer or recording devices. She seemed so human in this film that I felt for her when talking about the price of fame and how hard she has worked to make it to the status she is at. Plus no denying it was just cool to see how her and Jay-Z really act behind the scenes. They seemed like a couple of kids who are literally shocked with how far they have both come, seems like a great match to me.

Anyways I would highly recommend you finding this documentary either on HBO or online and watching it immediately. I promise it is worth it.

These Couples Existed

You forgot about some of these didn't you???

Black Keys - 1 Justin Bieber - 0

Well I just found out that in the last week or so there has been a minor feud between the drummer of the Black Keys Patrick Carney and a Mr. Justin Bieber. I guess that Carney was quoted after the Grammys when asked about Bieber said that the night was about real music and Bieber just didn't belong. Well little Bieber snapped back at him on his twitter feed sending the internet into a tailspin. Luckily Patrick is a little smarter than some over eager teenagers and has come out on top of this battle.

Read the story over at Rolling Stone right now. Trust me.

Meteor Strike?

Yes you just read that headline correct and yes I am being completely serious. While most of us were sleeping last night a huge Meteor decided to enter earths atmosphere and explode over Russia. Reports coming out are a bit shaky but so far hundreds have been hurt and the biggest report is of broken glass.

Pretty insane right? Here is an equally insane video.

Gaga Out

Lady Gaga has announced the cancellation of the last 21 dates of her US tour due to an injury. People in NY, DC, Baltimore etc will miss her "Born This Way Ball" due to a tear in her right hip that requires an operation. From what I have read the condition she has is affecting her hip socket. Sounds painful.

No word yet on how this will affect the status of her new record due out I think this year.

Zach Attack!

After you watch this next video you will never look at a talent contest the same again. This kid Zach blew "Walking on Sunshine" right out of the water. Bravo!!

Now are you ready for the Zach Attack!

Suit & Tie Official Video

Here is the official video for the Justin Timberlake song "Suit & Tie" again not a huge fan of this song but a huge fan of his comeback.

Best Card Ever?

Sigh

Cool Ranch Doritos Tacos Are Here

I know that you are as excited as I am in this new Taco Bell development of introducing us the Cool Ranch Doritos Taco-loco in March. But just in case you can not wait until then follow this link below to see how some of the first tastings went. Word on the street is its better than the original. Can't wait!!

More Love Songs

Here we go with another round.

Starting off with the Guns N' Roses classic "Sweet Child O' Mine" well because why not. Its a great song and a love song all at the same time, plus the video for it is pretty stellar. Win Win Win.

You can not have this day without a song from The Rolling Stones. How about "Wild Horses" anyone? The song perfectly captures what it is like to love anyone or anything against your better judgement.

In memory of the late Whitney Houston (the one year anniversary of her death was this week) I must include "I Will Always Love You". I know the song was not written or originally performed by her but its truly magical what she was able to do with it for The Bodyguard Soundtrack. That pause at the end before the final chorus makes your heart heart.

What Is The Harlem Shake?

No really I don't have an answer, I'm really asking you. In the last week or two I can not go anywhere on the internet without seeing people doing the "Harlem Shake" video. Yet after watching a countless number of them I still can't figure out what exactly they are doing. Help!!

Here are a few of the videos. Please explain.

Here is maybe the best one:

All I Want

I will be sorely disappointed if I do not receive one of these today.

The only thing that could make me happier would be...

BACON FLOWERS

(do you think I'm joking?)

What Is Love?

In case you needed proof that true love still exists please take the next three minutes and watch this video. Also have tissues. You have been warned.

Round 2

Here we go with some more great love songs for the day.

You can not do this list without including this next song. "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel is another one of those classic songs that makes you stop and listen to it every time you hear it. The bass line, the drums all of it combined with Gabriels voice makes it an unforgettable tune.

Next is one of my favorite U2 songs "All I Want Is You". This may be one of U2's prettiest songs, and to really enjoy it you need to listen to the live version below. "But all the promises we make, from the cradle to the grave. When all I want is you."

Happy Valentines Day

Hello and Happy Valentines Day to Everybody!!

In honor of this day I will be posting love songs all day. Old ones, new ones, big ones, small ones. I hope that you enjoy and that everyone has a fantastic day. Single or coupled everyone deserves some love today.

First is the classic "Ain't No Mountain High Enough"... one of my favorite songs of all time. Here is Diana Ross doing it justice. "If you need me call me... I'll be there"

Next is "These Arms of Mine" by Otis Redding. Remember this love song came out in 1964 but has been able to stand the test of time. My favorite part is about halfway through the song where he lets loose and lets the passion take over.

And finally the great Paul McCartney with "Maybe I'm Amazed". With lyrics like "Maybe I'm amazed at the way you love me all the time; Maybe I'm afraid of the way I love you". How could you go wrong?

Best Teen Jeopardy Episode Ever

Just sit back watch this and enjoy Leonard in all his glory.

New Video by Beck

Here he is covering the David Bowie classic "Sound and Vision" in what is one of the cooler concept videos I've seen in a while. There are over 170 musicians included in this project. Glad to see Beck is still out there doing his thing.

Ellie Goulding on Kimmel

I stupidly stayed up way past my bedtime last night but the upside was that I was able to catch Ellie Goulding on Jimmy Kimmel live. Not surprising at all that she killed it.

Jay-Z and Justin Take It To The Road

Well this is surprising to nobody. After the recent success of his comeback Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake are in final discussions to finalize a 12 stop stadium tour.

JT's album is set to drop in March.

Another Random Fact

I am just bursting with these today. Did you know?

Rashida Jones' older sister, Kidada, was engaged to Tupac Shakur when he was murdered in 1996. Apparently the two got together after Rashida publicly responded to some not so nice comments Tupac made about the Jones sisters' parents being in an interracial relationship.

Thats nuts. Here she is talking about him.

Well... It Is Monday

Weird Beatles Fact

Fact: The Beatles officially decided to break up at Disney World.

Clarkson Photo-bombed Ellen

Easily the picture of the night last night:

Kendra Morris "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"

It was hard not to notice the following Pink Floyd cover when we went to go see "Zero Dark Thirty" last month. It was featured in a trailer for a movie for some Colin Farrel action movie but what grabbed everyone s attention was not the film it was the absolutely stunning cover that Kendra Morris does. Bravo girl. Bravo.
