You know its a sign of the summer when my nights are filled watching dance shows and big brother. No not the dumb 'Dancing with the Stars'; I'm talking about 'So You Think You Can Dance' which absolutely blows away the competition.
Last night there were two dances that were head and heals above the rest. Check them out:

I don't really have words yet to sum up what happened to me on the night of July 15th... It will take me more time than I have now to sum up experiencing a live Beatle for my first time. All I kept thinking was...."this man wrote these songs.... whoa".
Amazing. Here is a video of some of the 35 songs that he played. Thats right 35 songs. 3 Hours. Two 3 Song encores. No stopping. Insane.
I know I've been full of sad news since I came back but sometimes thats how life is. This next one caught me by total surprise. So remember back in the Vancouver Olympics during the crazy ski jump ariels competition a kid from the US named "Speedy" came and through down what was called a 'Hurricane'. Aka the toughest jump known to man. Landed it and got himself a silver. That was a great moment.
Well unfortunately he was found dead yesterday from a self inflicted gun shot wound.
So much talent. Such a big loss.
After reading more about him today, I have found him to be yet another tortured soul. He had a bad battle with alcoholism and depression. Yet to most of America he will always be remembered for the emotion he showed after taking home the silver medal at the 2007 games.
"I know a lot of people go through a lot of things in their life, and I just want them to realize they can overcome anything" Peterson said that night with tears streaming down his face. "There's light at the end of the tunnel and mine was silver and I love it".
Sometimes I wish that I didn't work and I could just cruise the streets all day and do fun things like this. This guy set up shop on the streets and offered to give 'free beats' out on the street. Thats right. Free Beats!

The world lost yet another artist way to young over the weekend. Amy Winehouse passed away at the mere age of 27 from unknown causes (although we all can kind of guess).
Amy is just a sad sad case. You knew she was a tortured soul from the beginning, but dang she was good. Her album 'Back to Black' has not left my ipod since the day it was put on there and I can't say that about many albums. She was raw, talented and real. Did she have issues? Of course. But that for me didn't take her talent away.
I think a lot about the quote I started this post with when I think of Amy's passing. She was definitely one of those who while here on Earth burned very bright.
RIP Amy hope you can finally find some peace.

Back to up north for a quick visit. Whats planned you ask? Nothing really.... just a trip to NJ, dentist appointment, Paul McCartney Concert, NYC, a night in Brooklyn and back here for the soccer game on Sunday.

One of my favorite shows is back on for the summer, but unfortunately they have brought back my least favorite character of all time. Rachel. Ugh. Now I'm back to watching her on mute while the rest of the game continues. Seriously CBS I don't think I can take another full season of her... at least when there is not Ragan to call her out.
Yesterday afternoon I reverted back to my 16 year old self and was screaming and yelling around my office (yes I was at work...) watching this game live on my computer screen.
When in the last minute of overtime play Abbey Wambach scored on this header.... I screamed and slammed so many things inside my office it prompted a coworker to come and check on me.. she said:
"Katie, it sounded like a bookcase fell on you..."
Just when I thought I couldn't love U2 any more... Bono goes and pulls a stunt like this.
Scene: Nashville, U2 ends their show and is taking a bow when Bono reads a sign in the front row. Its from a man who wants to "play a song for his wife". Bono asks the man what he wants to play and he replies "All I Want Is You". Bono agrees and pulls the man on stage. Kicker? Man is blind. He picks up the guitar and plays with Bono and the full band backing him the entire song! Truly a moment that this man will never forget. Then at the end as Bono is leading him off the stage, he hands him his guitar. So not only did this man have the performance of a lifetime but he also has a pretty bad ass guitar now.
Never thought I would live to see this. A very positive article coming out of the NY Times yesterday about the Phish festival over the weekend. Check out the good read HERE.

Hope everyone is having a safe and happy 4th of July. This week is going to be a good week. I have absolutely nothing going on here at work (for once...), my great Father turns 60 on Friday and I've been on a buying spree for my new apartment.

I like Tom & Julia. I do. I think that the two of them together are absolutely hilarious. You can tell that they have been friends for years and well they don't really care much about what people think anymore. Why should they? They are just two of the biggest movie stars on the planet.
Which makes it even more entertaining when I see videos like the following that shows that they are friends, don't take anything too seriously and love to laugh.
Its refreshing.
That being said. I still won't see 'Thomas Crown'.
I've started bringing my camera to shows to take some pictures. While I know that it is just easier to look at the official pictures after the show that the band releases, there is something about taking a photo, and looking at it later knowing that at that moment...that was your perspective.
