"Long before these crowded streets here stood my dreaming tree"
Say what you would like about Dave Matthews and his band but I'm tell you, I have a slight obsession with Dave Matthews song writing abilities. He seems to tap into the right emotions at the right time. His songs sound, personal and real. Yeah he talks about death, dying a lot... but he also talks about living and loving a whole lot to. If this man just wrote all his songs into book form I would be first on line to buy it. Just saying.
I mean who else writes things like this...
"You seek up an emotion and sometimes your well is dry"
"The touch of you is hard to remember, but like that touch I know no other"
"If you hold on tight to what you think is your thing, you may find you're missing all the rest"
"The crimes between us grow deeper"
"If you could keep me floating for a while, I'll get back to you"
"Lean upon me, I'll lean upon you. And we'll be okay"
"Celebrate we will, for life is short but sweet for certain"
"We'll turn this better thing into the best"
"The future is no place, to place your better days"
"I was just wondering if you could come along? Hold up my head when my head won't hold on..."
I also love it when he just grabs a guitar and sits with is good friend Tim Reynolds and just belts out classics like this.
