Meet Ellie Goulding

After tomorrows Royal Wedding you will be happy you heard her here first. Ellie Goulding's life is about to get a lot more popular. Why? Well she has been tapped to play the Royal Wedding Reception tomorrow morning. Yup, that one that everyone is talking about.

Pretty huge deal for a small time artist. Pretty awesome thing for Kate and William to do.

Check out her cover of "our song", its pretty amazing!!

Why I Love Michael Scott.... In Picture Form.

Tonight we lose the 'Worlds Best Boss'. Steve Carrel's final show on The Office is tonight at 9pm and well the fact its 8 hours before the show and I'm already emotional will tell you how much I will miss him.

I have watched this show since day 1. (I used to watch it when it was the English version on BBC). Steve was always my favorite. Sometimes hes so good that its hard to watch some of the scenes.

So tonight, tune in, say goodbye and well you know there will be at least one more "thats what she said" moment. Sigh. I'm sad.

So to brighten my mood I will bring you my favorite Michael Scott moments in picture form!

Season 1, Episode 2

Michael hijacking a meeting which he made happen was bad enough. The insulting impression of an Indian convenience-store owner in front of Kelly (earning a justified slap in the face) was way worse -- and also the first sign that this show might have a chance of following in its British predecessor's footsteps.
"Diversity Day"

Season 2, Episode 12

A tour de force of cringe, from Michael's makeshift bubble-wrap cast to trying to equate himself to the disabled building manager to not recognizing that Dwight has given himself a concussion in his haste to care for his boss/mentor/hero.
"The Injury" (yes that is a make shift bubble wrap cast)

Season 3, Episode 1

More than 100 episodes of "The Office" have aired since this one first did, but we still don't think we've seen a more uncomfortable conference-room moment than Michael kissing Oscar in an attempt to show his acceptance that Oscar's gay. Yikes.
"Gay Witch Hunt"

Season 3, Episode 6

Season 3 was a symphony of cover-your-eyes behavior from Michael. It began with this episode, in which Michael uses the occasion of Kelly inviting everyone to a Diwali celebration to propose to Carol (Nancy Walls Carell). Suffice to say it does not go as he planned.
"Diwali"

Season 3, Episode 12

Always, always double-check your e-mail recipients. And don't bring a steel drum to the office.
"Back from Vacation"

Season 4, Episodes 1 and 2

Pam walks in on Michael changing his pants, which is something she (and we) can never unsee. And yes, he did say "come in."
"Fun Run"

Season 4, Episodes 3 and 4

If your GPS told you drive into a lake, would you? Even if you were sort of trying to make a point about the value of human interaction vs. the power of technology? Michael Scott would.
"Dunder Mifflin Infinity"
If your GPS told you to drive into a lake would you? Michael would.

Season 5, Episode 9

Still despondent over Holly's relocation to Nashua, Michael tries to get her back by performing the worst frame-up in the history of crime, planting "marijuana" -- actually Caprese salad -- in Toby's desk. Note to Mr. Scott: Weed does not smell like basil.
"Frame Toby"
The Toby-Michael dynamic is one of my all time favorites "Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family."

Season 6, Episode 12

In our opinion, promising a group of kids free college educations, then utterly failing to deliver when the bill came due is hands down the worst thing Michael has ever done. We wondered for a good long time after this one whether Michael was redeemable at all.
"Scotts Tots"
Worst thing Michael has ever done: promising kids to send them to college then bailing when the bill came.

Finally the Christmas episodes were always my favorites

Bye Michael Scott. Don't know how the show will continue without you....

Casey - Hi De Ho

Man I fall in love with this kid more and more each week, its sad that he is like 22.

Watch him kill it again last night. Its not even a competition at this point, if they don't crown this kid champ, I give up.

Love Hate Love

Love Hate Love
If I lived near Tribeca last night you would have believed I would have taken myself to the great old film festival they have going on this week and I would have gone to see this movie "Love Hate Love". Its basically the unthinkable story of three families who faced tragedy due to terrorism and how they choose LOVE in the end.

'The Voice' As Good As Expected!

The Voice

Last night in between watching 90 minutes of Glee I taped NBC's "The Voice" and was able to speed through it and well, somewhere in between all of those damn commercials I feel in love with the show.

Why? Because it is an easy simple concept. Take four super stars at the top of their game. Give them all an opportunity to hear new artists with out seeing them first (blind auditions) and then compete with each other to make the best 'team' of singers to compete against one another.

Genius.

I mean the blind audition part alone is a reason to tune into the show. Artists that you know would never make it on a show like American Idol are given the opportunity because of their voice. Its the way that the music business should operate but it doesn't.

Check out my two favorite performers of the night last night:

First Vicci Martinez came out and killed Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep'. An extremely tough song to sing (trust me I know I try in the shower every morning). She kills it, and you can tell the burst of confidence she got when she saw those judges turn around her chair.

Second is a singer girl named Xenia. And her story almost had me in tears. Just watch the whole video and see how this shy girl who says that 'many classmates are going to be shocked to hear I can even sing' blew me away last night. This is the reason I will be watching the rest of the show. Love feel good stories.

Glee Unpretty but Beautiful

Okay I have to give it to the cast from GLEE last night. They knocked it out of the park. In an episode called "Born this Way" the student singing group confronted a lot of issues about themselves that they weren't proud of. They talked about bullying, the effects of not having self esteem and most of all acceptance.

It was a huge step for a show that I feel has a responsibilities to these millions of kids that are tuning into every word that they say. I thought last night was great. Especially the "Unpretty/I Feel Pretty" duet. It was lovely. Understated but lovely.

I can just hope that high schoolers get the message.

Bravo Glee.

Ridiculous

The release of President Obama's birth certificate will never fully satisfy the critics.
America is ridiculous. These people won't be satisfied until this man is out of office and we re-elect a cowboy.

This is the end of politics for me. The releasing of Obama's birth certificate this morning was unnecessary and ridiculous. I just don't care anymore. We are all dumb.

I've Gotta Be Me!

Doesn't get much better than Sammy Davis Jr, belting this song.

"Whether I'm right or whether I'm wrong
Whether I find a place in this world or never belong
I gotta be me, I gotta be me
What else can I be but what I am

I want to live, not merely survive
And I won't give up this dream
Of life that keeps me alive
I gotta be me, I gotta be me
The dream that I see makes me what I am

That far-away prize, a world of success
Is waiting for me if I heed the call
I won't settle down, won't settle for less
As long as there's a chance that I can have it all

I'll go it alone, that's how it must be
I can't be right for somebody else
If I'm not right for me
I gotta be free, I've gotta be free
Daring to try, to do it or die
I've gotta be me"

Someone please get me this book immediately. Thank you.

thank you.

What A Difference!

So you know that Miley Cyrus song "Party in the USA". If you don't know it you obviously have been living on mars for the last year. Anyways, interesting fact about that song.

It was not written by Miley... shocker!

It was actually written by a Brit Jessie J. Yes her, the one I was talking about a few weeks back during her performance on SNL. Well last night she took to the stage and performed her original song, and well what a difference does it make when you actually see the person who wrote the song sing it.

Bravo.

Christina is "The Voice"

Tonight you can catch Christina Aguilera as a judge on NBC's new show "The Voice" and after watching a 15 minute preview last night; I will tune in to see it. Why? Because its pretty dang real. I mean you have four judges who serve as coaches, but they are not old washed up pop stars like they are on Idol. They use people who are actually on top of their game. People like C.Lo Green, Maroon 5's Adam Levine and country rocker Blake Shelton.

To round out these guys is a girl who has been taking a lot of crap lately. Christina Aguilera. Yes that Christina. Say what you want about this girl but if you doubt the talent that she has in that tiny little body of hers, let me just give you one example that will just get you to shut up already.

Check out her performance during the James Brown tribute at the Grammy's a few years back. Easily her greatest performance of all time!!!

RIP Pheobe Snow

The world lost one hell of a good voice today.

Phoebe Snow, best known for her hit "Poetry Man" in 1975 passed away this morning at the age of 60.

"The loss of this unique and untouchable voice is incalculable," her manager said. "Phoebe was one of the brightest, funniest, and most talented singer-songwriters of all time and more importantly, a magnificent mother to her late brain-damaged daughter, Valerie for 31 years. Phoebe thought that that was her greatest accomplishment".

Your voice will live on.

Just Some Thoughts....

Adele Opens Up To Rolling Stone

Its about time you had her on your cover! She has only been on the top of the charts for the last two months and has easily put out the album that will SWEEP the Grammy's this year. (Yes, I'm calling it now)

Highlights from the story include:

Many of the songs on her hit album 21 were inspired by a break-up with her boyfriend. "He was artistic, but not romantic" "We'd just bicker over a cup of tea or the fact that my lighter wasn't working" Nonetheless, Adele says, "He made me an adult and put me on the road I'm traveling on".

Despite the fact that she's one of the most successful new recording artists of the past few years, Adele still has terrible stage fright. "I'm scared of audiences, one show in Amsterdam I was so nervous I escaped out the fire exit. I've thrown up a couple of times. Once in Brussels, I projectile vomited on someone. I just gotta bear it. But I don't like touring. I have anxiety attacks a lot."

Adele says her dad was never in the picture. He recently talked to a British tabloid and said that he regretted his actions. "I never knew my dad." she says. "He has no fuckin' right to talk about me".

Meet Robyn

Robyn

Meet Robyn. My new favorite artist. I featured her video yesterday but today I bring you more, more, MORE!

Robyn is a Sweedish pop star who blends the gritty sounds of American urban R&B with the sunny pop of her homeland. Robyn first found a hit when "Do You Know (What it Takes)" hit the Top Ten around the world including the US. Born Robyn Carlsson in Stockholm in 1979 she traveled around the continent with her parents traveling theater group, all while listening to the American classic soul music.

After writing her first song at the age of 11, after her parents divorce, she got her break when a national talent agent heard her singing during a concert intermission. The rest is history. They got her a record contract which started releasing singles when she was only 16. She started recording her debut album in 1995, and Robyn Is Here quickly topped the Swedish charts. When the album was released in the U.S. almost a year and a half later that first single "Do You Know(What It Takes) hit the Top Ten.

Since that release she has been kicking ass and taking names all across this great country of ours. If you don't have her new album. Go get it immediately!

Norio Ohga Dies at 81

CD pioneer Norio Ohga dies aged 81

You may be asking yourself who is this man? And what is he doing on here.

Meet Norio Ohga, the original creator of the compact disc (CD), he died today at the age of 81.

He certainly has left his mark.

New Week

Well I hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was fantastic until yesterday I fell and sprained my ankle during "Easter on Parade".

Oh well. Shit happens. Not the end of the world.

In other notices, I am too busy to do this blog at the moment. I know heartbreaking, but oh well. Not the end of the world. I'll get back to it once I'm literally back on my feet.

Until then enjoy the few simple videos I post a day.

Today

Wow today was worth it! Completely!

What a difference one day makes. Back on top again. Look where I live!
And no I didn't take this picture, but this is what I sat and looked at all day.

See you tomorrow.... Friday!

Nothing... Again

Yup thats right. Again, nothing.

Not that I don't have anything to say, I just really don't feel like it. A few people (not to mention anyones names) put me in a terrible mood yesterday so I choose just to look at all the bright things I have going on for me down here. Not to dwell on that crap.

So I've taken the day off and I'm off to the river.

Later. Me winning. You... not so much.

Fantastic Photo

Photo: Sunrise over a snow-covered dock
If you have ever seen my apartment you know I have an obsession with bridges to nowhere. Docks that lead into the sea or lake. And well pictures just like this one above.

Foo Fighters Rage A Garage

This is impressive and I'm jealous I wasn't there.

Foo Fighters started their brand new "garage tour" doing just that, playing in someones garage in Yonkers, New York. Check out this 16 minute video and you will instantly get the feeling you are back in the early 90s.

Way to keep it fresh boys.

Lil Buck & Yo-Yo Ma

Yes thats right you read the title correctly. Check out this amazing collaboration between two genius's at their craft.

Amazing.

I Promise

I promise you that I am getting back to this blog. Things have been way too busy and well until I move and get my life restructured, this blog has taken the backseat.

But that doesn't mean I can't share with you pictures like this one.

Best NBA Picture Ever?

Okay, I know its a music blog but lets pause for a minute and talk hoops. I don't love the NBA but this weekend I was very entertained by all the games. And this morning I was even more entertained by this photo.

Its the playoffs!!!!

Russell Westbrook

Best of Coachella (Pictures)

Coachella is the shit. I don't know really how else to put it. It takes all the best bands in the world, sets them up for an epic weekend, and lets all hell break loose. I WILL make it there one day!

So instead of doing a long winded recap of the weekend, I will just highlight some of the pictures that are surfacing now. What other festival brings all these people together? Oh yeah right, none.

Lauryn Hill showed up on time, and gave a stellar performance of some of her old classics.

Kanye West towered above the crowd (just how he likes it) to open his festival-closing show. Watch!
Its a bird. Its a plane. Nope just Kanye West.

Cee Lo Green kept it simple in the heat, eschewing all of the costumes he's become known for sporting (and sweating in) during his live performances.
I hear that C.Lo Green showed up late and had his performance cut to 20 min. Who do you think you are? You are not the biggest star of the weekend. Moving on.

Mumford & Sons continued to assert their newfound omnipresence by delivering one of Day Two's most memorable sets.
Mumford & Sons had one of the bigger crowds of the weekend during their set on Saturday night.

Erykah Badu. 'Nuff said.
Erykah Badu. Enough said.

She didn't take the stage, but Rihanna watched from the front row.
Rihanna while not an actual performer caught the show from side-stage.

Ditto for Kelly Osbourne.
Kelly Osbourne also looked like she was enjoying herself.

The Black Keys dominated. No surprise.

He may bust it up on stage, but Usher was a rather subdued audience member during Empire of the Sun.
Its always nice to see other stars take in their friends music. Here is Usher.

One of my new favorites, Robyn performs.

Looks like it was a good time; sad I missed it!
