Love Is A Battlefield

From early careerPat Benatar is a certified rock n roll superstar. A four time Grammy winner with six platinum and four gold albums, as well as such singles as "I Need A Lover", "Heartbreaker" "Fire and Ice" "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" need more... how about "Love is a Battlefield". She has long been acknowledged as one of the elading female rock vocalists in the industry.

She first captured industry ears with showcases at NY "Catch a Rising Star", where Benatar quickly was signed to Chrysalis Records and released the million selling "In The Heat of the Night" in 1979, followed by the multi platinum "Crimes of Passion" a year later. And from there she did not look back.

During the years 1980-1983, she captured an unreal four straight Grammys in the category "Best rock Vocal Performance Female". By the time "Love is a Battlefield" dropped in 1983 she emerged as one of the leading stars of the emerging music video scene with a Bob Giraidi directed video with proved to be an MTV Staple.

Her albums continued to come, and she continued to be at the top of her game. She was busting through barriers even in the Jazz world, when she released a critically-acclaimed blues album which had her covering B.B. Kings "Paying Cost to Be the Boss". The record was a labor of love for Benatar and husband/producer/longtime collaborator Neil Giraldo and proved most of all that she was equally adept at belting out the blues.

In 1985, Pat and Neil became the proud parents of a baby girl, Haley, but Benatar continued to record and tour right up to 1993, when she took time off to give birth to her second daughter. From there she became a prolific song writer, penning more than two dozen new songs. Also during this time she separated from her long time record label, Chrysalis.

Finally finding herself free of any ties fueled her creative instincts. "Its like starting over, like getting another chance, a new lease on life" she once said. She went back on live tour (where shes at her best) and has continued to tour to this day giving a new generation of fans a chance to see one of the greatest rock belters of all time. As well as someone who's been a real influence on the latest crop of female rockers.

Just take a listen to her classic voice and you will see, she is certainly one of the best.
