This is just absolutely awful news and my thoughts and prayers go out to all the families involved in this tragic incident.
More than 230 people were killed on Saturday night when a fire raged through a nightclub in Brazil. The majority of the victims were local students. According to people in attendance the fire began shortly after 2am when a flare from the band Gurizada Fandangueira pyro display ignited the soundproofing on the ceiling. Four of the bandmates made it out alive but accordion player Danilo Jaques, perished in the blaze.
It is reported that the club security guards had locked the exits before the fire, hampering escape and adding to the panic.
As someone who goes to a lot of concerts at small venues this is an absolutely awful nightmare.
Again thinking about all the grieving families today... 230 people... so tragic.
