One Day

Sometimes I lay under the moon
And I thank god that I'm breathin'
Then I pray he don't take me soon
'Cause I'm here for a reason

The song this morning is a true inspiration. Its just been selected as the official song of the Olympics so you will hear a lot more of it in the upcoming months. Its called "One Day" by Matisyahu, and its been bouncing around in my head for the last month or so since I heard it come across my Sirius radio. To those unfamiliar with his work, Matisyahu is known for blending traditional Jewish themes with reggae, rock and hip hop sounds. He gained a Top 40 hit a few years back with his breakout song "King without a Crown" and has been relasing both studio cds and live mix cds ever since.

This latest song means a lot to him. He told Spin magazine "One Day" is the song I've been wanting to make since I started my career. Its an anthem of hope with a big beat-- the kind of song that makes you bob your head and open your heart at the same time". Matisyahu has explored a number of musical styles over the course of his relatively short, whirlwind career, but his universal message of peace and unity has always remained the same.
