Two More Lists for You!

Rolling Stone Magazine has been all about the lists lately and while I never fully agree with any of the ones they put out that is half the fun right. To debate. To figure out what your list would be. So take this time, take a look at these two lists and think about what you would change on them. Because out of these two, there is a lot of room for debate. Enjoy.

First is the "Top 10 Concert Experiences" (and out of the bands on the list I have seen 7 of them... not too shabby).

10. Tie: Metallica and My Morning Jacket
9. Prince
8. Foo Fighters
7. Paul McCartney
6. Rolling Stones
5. Radiohead
4. Pearl Jam
3. U2
2. Green Day
1. Bruce Springsteen

Next list is they listed the "Top 100 Songs of All Time" Here is THEIR top 10.

10. Ray Charles - What'd I Say
9. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
8. The Beatles - Hey Jude
7. Chuck Berry - Johnny B Goode
6. Beach Boys - Good Vibrations
5. Aretha Franklin - Respect
4. Marvin Gaye - Whats Going On
3. John Lennon - Imagine
2. Rolling Stones - (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
1. Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone

  1. Wow, compare that live list with Paste Magazine's Best Live Acts of the Decade http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/lists/2009/11/the-20-best-live-acts-of-the-decade-2000-2009.html?p=4 (4 in common, U2, the Boss, Radiohead and MMJ) but they've got a few other great ones (Flaming Lips, TV on the Radio, Tom Waits). I can't complain about the 100 Best songs because although it's ridiculously slanted towards the '60s (the whole list, not just the top 10) the top 10 songs are absolutely classics. Have you checked out Tom Moon's "1000 Recordings to Hear Before You Die"? If you like music lists it's a must have. I am writing about my thoughts on the book at my site (http://recordingtherecordings.blogspot.com/) and you can stream 500 of the 1000 there. Happy listening!
