Song of the Day

I have seen Donavon Frankenreiter in concert a few times, most recently when he opened up for Dave last summer up in DC. I find this guys music to be calming, relaxing and most of all fun. His story is pretty neat too.

He took up surfing as a teenager and was soon signed on to many sponsorship deals most notably with Billabong. This allowed him to travel the world and during these travels he found himself renting a house from Jack Johnson's parents out in Hawaii. (At this time he belonged to a small band in which he played guitar and rarely sang.) Soon a friendship struck up between him and Jack and well the rest is basically history.

With influences like the Rolling Stones, The Marshall Tucker Band, Van Morrison and Allman Brothers band. He took his love of music to a new level signing with Jack's Brushfire Records. His self titled album dropped in 2002 and well this guy has been putting out hit after hit ever since. Mostly known for his song "Free" and cover of "Lovely Day", this guys albums are a must have.

Today I have chosen his song "The Way It Is" for my song of the day well because it makes you feel like you are sitting on a beach somewhere....just relaxing. And well, that would be a nice break right now from all the snow and rain we have here in Richmond.
