RIP Sparklehorse's Mark Linkous

It feels as if I have written too many of these posts over the last few months about artists leaving this world way before their time, and I'm sad to report another. Rolling Stone confirmed the sad news that the Virginia native and Sparkelhorse front man Mark Linkous has committed suicide. The statement from his family read:
"It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and family member, Mark Linkous, took his own life today. We are thankful for his time with us and will hold him forever in our hearts. May his journey be peaceful, happy and free. There's a heaven and there's a star for you"

Linkous grew up in Charlottesville and attended Albermarle High School, and spent most of his career located out in Fluvanna County. While he had his troubles in the past, the famous story about him was about the overdose that almost killed him while he was on tour with Radiohead in 1996, yet pushing pas that produced material that made him a critical delight. He has shared collaborations with Tom Waits, Danger Mouse, David Lynch and Daniel Johnson.

His music had hit my radar a few years ago when he started collaborating with Danger Mouse and its just a sad day for music and to all who knew this man. If I wish one thing to come out of this, is that a whole new generation of music lovers will discover his music and fall in love like I did. His songs are just beautiful.
